PILANGO TARGETS CRAFT BEER DRINKERS WITH NEW HOPPED CIDER

Craft cider brand, Pilango, has launched Hopped - a beautifully aromatic craft cider infused with hops – to encourage trial amongst non-cider drinkers.

Hopped is a medium dry 4% ABV sparkling cider, made using hops, resulting in tropical, citrus and elderflower notes.  It is available in a 330ml bottle.

Hopped joins Pilango’s debut cider release, Liberated (5% ABV / 330ml bottle), launched in 2016, and boosts Pilango Cider’s ambition to challenge people’s perceptions of cider.

Infusing cider with hops is a relatively new approach in the UK, although it has gained an established following amongst craft cider fans in the US.

People often overlook craft cider, but it is a wonderful product: as a category, it has the diversity of wine and the innovation of craft beer.

Following on from a trip to the Cider Con cider conference in Portland, Oregon, we were inspired by the US craft cider scene to develop our own Hopped Cider, to create a cider with a citrus, floral taste profile with notes of elderflower,” said Victor Zasadzki, director of Pilango Cider.

Underpinning Hopped’s launch is the news that together with range sibling, Liberated, it has won a silver medal at the International Cider Challenge 2017, in the Design & Packaging category.

Pilango Cider has a healthy innovation pipeline, with further releases imminent. As well as being a craft cider producer and retailer, it operates a pop-up cider shop in Tooting’s Broadway Market, stocking around 100 different ciders from 15 different countries.

Liberated and Hopped are both available from the Pilango Cider shop, as well as leading bars, restaurants, bottleshops and pubs across London.

About Pilango Cider

Pilango is a flamboyant cider butterfly, turning heads, galvanizing taste buds, and collecting and creating distinctive ciders for curious drinkers. The different colours used to illustrate the butterflies on the ciders’ labels celebrate the mix of apples that go into making the ciders. Pilango’s ciders are made using apples that are begged, borrowed, donated and saved from languish in gardens.

Following a trip to Portland, Oregon - a hub of US craft beer and cider drinking –director Victor Zasadzki decided it was time to branch out from the corner of his Tooting garden and the cupboard under the stairs, and Pilango Cider was born in 2016.
