This week has been a scorcher! So we needed to pick the ultimate thirst-quenching cider as our ‘Cider of the Week’… and here it is!
“First Press is the product of adventure. Paul travelled from New Zealand to New England sampling the most exciting new ciders in the world. This is his take on what the best micro-cideries from abroad are doing, with a Herefordshire twist.
The result is modern, crisp and refreshing. First Press is proper cider, but it's not your grandparents' scrumpy... Paul makes it using a blend of eating apples including Newtons Wonder, Coxes Orange Pippin and Worcester Pomain. That makes for a cider that's fruity, bold and very easy drinking.
First Press washes down a pub lunch or a BBQ like no other, but also complex enough to be paired with posh stuff as well.“ You can read more about Newton Court here.
Like all of of Newton Court’s ciders, it's is pressed, brewed and bottled by Paul at their farm in Herefordshire.
Newton Court 'First Press' 4.8%
Pale straw colour, little fruit aroma. 1st pressings kind of refined. There’s some initial tongue tingle, with a medium sweet, subtle flavour of green apples, moving to a slightly tart, lemony finish. Refreshing and stylish.
